As these events are used for training purposes – to bring new volunteers up to speed for next years competition season, we encourage you to ask for robot inspections but they are completely optional. We know some teams have been working on improving robots over the summer, please feel free to use this event as an opportunity to see how these mods work in real gameplay. You still can’t violate any game rules, but rules compliance is honor-system based. As usual weight restrictions are lax also. This event is more about having fun and introducing new team members and the public to FIRST.
There may be access to a shop with tools, See the site specific FAQ.
Multiple Robots
In the event we have fewer than 30 registered teams, teams may bring second robots to the competition to complete the desired 30 team roster.
Second robots will be entered as first-come-first-serve basis upon arrival to the event on Saturday Morning. There is no charge for additional robots provided they are part of a team which has paid the registration fee.
Secondary robots will be assigned ‘dummy’ team numbers but otherwise compete as if they were unique teams. As such, primary and secondary robot may be competing at the same time on the same or opposite alliances - and therefore need an independent drive team for each robot.
This is an excellent opportunity to ‘test drive’ multiple drivers or teams on the same day!
Video and Audio Recording
This event will store and livestream audio, video and still images that may include anyone attending the event. By entering this event you agree to this.
COVID-19 Policy
At this time District 833 has no Covid 19 restrictions in place. Please refer back to this page to see if things change. Attendees should follow common sense CDC guidelines, the most important being: If you have any symptoms, please stay home so you don't infect others!
Volunteering
FIRST really needs volunteers at regional events. To learn how easy and fun this is, offseason events like EMCC make it easy for folks to show up and be slotted into a role for a while so you can try it out in a no obligation format!
Roles such as Field Reset, Emcee, Game Announcer, Referee, Robot Inspector, Team Queuing, Pit Administration, Team Check In, are all options. Please donate a little time at EMCC to learn about how to help at official events! We promise this is not an entire day commitment - we want you to enjoy it!
All you need to do is show up at the event as early as you can on Saturday Oct 26th 2024: we will hold a volunteer meeting at 7:30am. Don't worry if you can't make it there in time for this - We can use your help whenever you can provide it!
Notes
We will be using the older radios for this event.
Lunch preorder cut off is Friday the 18th.
Robots and people will use a common door to enter/exit the pits.
There will be separate hallways for robots and people.
Robots and people will use different doors to enter/exit the arena.
The match queue for robots will be in the robot hallway with maybe the on deck teams in the arena area.
Robots will enter the arena through 1 field entry on the judges side.
Robots will exit the arena through the 2 field entries on the audience side.
The next 6 robots in the queue will form the next match.
If you want to setup a specific match with other teams then position your group correctly in the queue.
We hope to have some Mentor driven matches near the end of the event.
Each team can only occupy one slot in the queue and field.
A team is allowed to exit the field and get right back in the queue. Send a runner to get a new battery / drivers / coaches.
Concessions will be available next to the arena.
There will be presentation tables from sponsors and other interested groups.
There will be door prizes from 10-12
There will be an FTC area with 2 arenas so if you know an FTC team and they want to practice and try out their current state of build please inform them. There is no cost to FTC teams to use the arenas. We do request that they let us know they plan to attend.
